Last night on HBO, WBC super featherweight titleholder Francisco Vargas and challenger Orlando Salido delivered what was promised in the main event, an all-action slugfest that thrilled fight fans in Carson, California, and around the world. The two wound up going to a majority draw, which was a fair outcome in a tremendous battle.
Here's a look at some of the action from the fight:

Vargas (23-0-2, 17 KO) and Salido (43-13-4, 30 KO) both, of course, feel that they won the fight, and a rematch would be a natural, but we'll see where they go from here. Tonight, all that matters is they earned a standing ovation (or two) for their efforts. Fights like this are hyped by those of us who really look forward to the truly great in-ring matchups, and sometimes they fail to deliver on what was promised. That was not the case this time.
