Welp.

As Lance Pugmire reported late last month, it looks as though Deontay Wilder will indeed face Chris Arreola in his voluntary WBC title defense. According to ESPN and The Ring, the two will most likely square off on July 16th, helming a PBC on Fox show in Birmingham, Alabama.

The fight's technically not officially official at this point, but it's got a BoxRec page and everything.

Wilder (36-0, 35 KO) ought to be a massive favorite over Arreola (36-4-1, 31 KO), who's had little to offer but name recognition in years. Now thirty-five, "The Nightmare" has lost in every single step up and has struggled against mediocre-at-best opposition in recent years. Even his chin, which once stood up to Vitali Klitschko's sledgehammer blows for ten cringeworthy rounds, has been cracked by the likes of Bermane Stiverne (understandable) and Travis Kauffman (less so).

But who knows? Maybe when Team Povetkin gets around to suing Team Wilder they can put the kibosh on this.
