Sergey Kovalev and Isaac Chilemba both made weight today in Russia, finalizing Monday's fight for Kovalev's WBA, IBF, and WBO light heavyweight titles.
Kovalev (29-0-1, 26 KO) weighed in at 174.6 pounds, with Chilemba (24-3-2, 10 KO) at 174.8, so both were slightly under the limit of 175 pounds. If successful -- and he is expected to be -- Kovalev will move forward to a November fight with Andre Ward, who will face Alexander Brand in his own tune-up on August 6 on HBO.
Kovalev-Chilemba will air via tape delay on HBO in the United States at 10:15 p.m. ET on Monday night, but BoxNation in the United Kingdom and Match TV in Russia. BoxNation's live coverage goes live at Noon ET, with Kovalev-Chilemba expected around 12:30 p.m. ET. Bad Left Hook will be here early for live round by round coverage of the fight.
