Kell Brook rejects comparisons to Canelo-Khan

Kell Brook says that his fight against Golovkin isn't like Amir Khan's fight against Canelo Alvarez, saying they're completely different fighters.

Despite all of talk and comparisons of Golovkin-Brook to Canelo-Khan, with nearly everyone expecting the same eventuality, that's just not the way Kell Brook sees it. In fact Kell Brook says the fights aren't the same because he rates himself quite differently from rival Khan. Here's what Brook had to say on the subject as reported by RingTV.com:

"Me and Amir are completely different fighters," Brook said on Thursday following a press conference in Manhattan to hype their Sept. 10 fight from O2 Arena in London for Golovkin's middleweight titles. "We all know his chin is not too great, and he was caught with a very good shot. But I think I'm an all-around fighter and you're going to see it in this fight. You're going to see things in me you've never seen in me before because Golovkin is a super fighter and it's going to bring the best out of me in this fight."

And not only does Brook believe that Golovkin will bring out the best in him, he also believes his power could shock Golovkin, and that if he lands cleanly that he could be first to stop him.

"I've definitely got punching power," he said. "You're going to see in the fight my power. Definitely at 160 I'm going to be a lot stronger and the speed will come with it. So if I land clean, I could knock Golovkin out."

I doubt many people will put a lot of stock into that statement, but I suppose Brook has to believe in himself if nothing else.

Brook also mentioned that if he beats Golovkin he would like to give Amir Khan a fight in a big domestic showdown for the U.K. fans who have long awaited it. Although if Brook loses to Golovkin on other hand, a fight between Khan and himself would appear to be even more fitting.
