Errol Spence Jr. calls for Kell Brook fight

Shortly after he nearly decapitated Leonard Bundu yesterday afternoon, Errol Spence Jr. said he's ready to compete for the IBF welterweight title currently held by Kell Brook. Of course Kell Brook is in the midst of preparing for a serious showdown of his own against middleweight Gennady Golovkin, but whichever way that goes Spence just wants his opportunity.

"I definitely want my shot at Kell Brook and his title," said Spence Jr. "I want him next. If he vacates or gets stripped then I'll fight for his vacant title. I've paid my dues."

Spence Jr. says it took some early adjusting to get accustomed to Bundu's awkward style, but once he did he knew it would be smooth sailing. That basically turned out to be the case as Spence Jr. would put Bundu into a REM cycle late in the sixth round in a performance that even impressed his opponent after he managed to come to.

"He certainly lived up to the hype," said Bundu, who was taken to the hospital for evaluation after the fight. "Errol was more precise than Keith Thurman. Errol threw more punches and was fresh in every round."

Looking ahead, there's been a lot of speculation that current IBF titlist Kell Brook won't be returning to 147lbs regardless of how his fight with Golokvin pans out - meaning that his world title could soon be vacated. But be that as it may, the young man from Desoto, TX will be in a world title match soon enough. And deservedly so.
