IBF welterweight titlist Kell Brook says he's open to returning to welterweight and defending his strap against mandatory challenger Errol Spence -- if that's what the fans want.
But first Kell Brook has a gargantuan task ahead of him when he faces middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin next month, although he says he may return to welterweight afterwards, win or lose.
"I think I will defend my title again but it all depends on what is the biggest fight out there for me," Brook told ESPN. "I'm not going back just to fight anyone, I want to fight people the fans are excited about.
"Errol Spence would be a big fight and he's tipped to do great things. There would be big interest in me fighting him in the US and he's my mandatory so that's a fight that could happen. If people want to see that fight, I will do it."
On the surface there would seem to be more marketable fights for Brook at the top of the welterweight division than at middleweight or junior middleweight. So I'm sure there will be plenty of interest (and money to be made) in Brook returning to welterweight -- if he can still hit the 147lb mark.
