Speaking with WBN ahead of his scheduled title fight with Liam Smith, Canelo Alvarez answers questions on a few topics including his thoughts on a potential Floyd Mayweather return and potentially fighting Manny Pacquiao in the future. Starting with his thoughts on Floyd Mayweather possibly coming back to boxing, Canelo tells WBN:

"Oh I think Floyd Mayweather will fight again. Mayweather thrives in the spotlight so much it will happen," Canelo exclusively told World Boxing News.

Then, when asked about his interest in potentially fighting Manny Pacquiao, Canelo responds:

"I would love to fight Manny Pacquiao but that's looking ahead and disrespectful to Liam Smith.

"Liam Smith is a world champion and a very tough fighter. He's a tough guy and I'm challenging him. He's the champion and a worthy one," he said.

It should be noted that Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach has gone on record a number of times saying that he too would love to match Pacquiao against Canelo. The only issue he would have is the time between the weigh-in and fight night -- saying that they would have to have a rehydration limit in order to prevent Canelo from having too much of an advantage over Pacquiao. It would certainly be a big-selling fight if it were to happen, but coming to terms on the weight issue would be a big hurdle to overcome.
