A pair of rising welterweights are once again set to do battle, as unbeaten Bryant Perrella and the resurgent Yordenis Ugas will headline a September 27th Toe-to-Toe Tuesday in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The two were first set to fight two weeks ago, but a late thumb injury forced Perrella to withdraw and left Ugas to fight Jamal James.

Perrella (13-0, 12 KO), a PBC regular, tore through fellow prospect David Grayton in two rounds last June and has kept quite a busy schedule; this will be his eighth fight since the end of 2014. At twenty-seven, he certainly looks like a potential elite, having knocked out his last eleven foes and never gone past the sixth round.

Ugas (16-3, 7 KO) ran roughshod over James, who I thought very highly of. The former Olympic bronze medalist was coming off a two-fight losing streak and a twenty-seven-month layoff, which makes it even more impressive. In his defense, all three of his losses came against unbeaten opponents and he gave the very capable Amir Imam everything he could handle.

It’s a very good PBC fight, highlighting two (relatively) young competitors who’ve shown real promise. Looking forward to it.
