Fresh off his stoppage loss to Gennady Golovkin last weekend, Kell Brook and promoter Eddie Hearn are already looking towards their next big fight. In a column Hearn has just published for the Daily Mail, Hearn says that they already have three big names in their sights.
"There is already interest from HBO in a fight between Canelo Alvarez and Kell next May. That's a fight Kell would absolutely love and he has said so to me. Common sense would also suggest that the fight Britain wants to see with Amir Khan should also be possible.
Then there's Miguel Cotto, which would be a huge fight. They are the three main ones we are looking at for his comeback. We want to go straight into a big one."
Hearn also said that Brook, who remains the IBF welterweight champion, is reluctant to vacate his world title unless he lands a big fight in another division, perhaps keeping the door open for a welterweight return -- however unlikely that seems.
It should also be noted that Brook actually hasn't undergone surgery to repair his broken orbital bone, courtesy of Golovkin, just yet. They plan on finding out this week if Brook will actually have surgery at all of if it will be better to let it heal naturally. Either way, Brook isn't expected to fight again until next spring.
