Just two days out from fight night, and with pretty much all the media obligations taken care of, Gennady Golovkin and Kell Brook will square off at London's O2 arena. But after today's final presser for the fight, Kell Brook's promoter Eddie Hearn is questioning the kind of condition Golovkin might be in, telling Sky Sports:
"I'm going to throw this out there. I didn't think Gennady Golovkin looked that great. I thought he looked a little bit drawn in the face. They scuttled off after and didn't want to talk to any of the media."
Now I personally didn't think Golovkin looked to be in rough shape here, particularly considering that he was only 5lbs over the limit at the 30-day weigh-in, but you can draw your own conclusions on that front. And even Hearn admits that he might be reaching a bit.
"Maybe I'm clutching at straws but I'm going to clutch at them because we need to. We know the task. Everything has to go our way but as all week, Kell Brook is the calmest person involved in the fight and that gives me confidence."
That, I would say, is a pretty fair assessment coming from the promoter...
