Guess what? There were no surprises on Friday night’s PBC on Spike card, as Erislandy Lara and Anthony Dirrell easily won their mismatch showcase fights in Hialeah, Florida.
Lara (24-2-2, 14 KO) knocked out Yuri Foreman (34-3, 10 KO) in the fourth round to retain his WBA “super world” junior middleweight title in the main event. Lara was credited with a knockdown in the third round, a bad call by referee Samuel Burgos, but an uppercut in round four left no doubt. Foreman was able to get to his feet, but the fight was stopped anyway.
Hopefully, we’ll see the 33-year-old Lara actually face a challenge his next time out.
Dirrell (30-1-1, 24 KO) smashed 21-year-old Hungarian Norbert Nemesapati (24-5, 17 KO) over six rounds, before the fight was stopped. Former super middleweight titleholder Dirrell, 32, will also hopefully look for an actual opponent the next time we see him fight.
