Erickson Lubin: A Day in Camp

Catch some behind the scenes footage of Erickson Lubin in camp as he prepares for his world title shot this weekend.

Wil Esco is an assistant editor of Bad Left Hook and has been covering boxing for SB Nation since 2014.

In this video feature produced by Showtime, we get a glimpse of world title challenger Erickson Lubin as he prepares to take on Jermall Charlo this weekend in a Showtime tripleheader. This will be Lubin’s first crack at a major world title, and he’s doing everything he can to make sure it turns out in his favor.

The video begins with trainer Jason Galarza making breakfast for his fighter, with Lubin saying that things work out well on the meal front his trainer’s a good cook he never has problems making weight anyway.

We then follow Lubin to his mandatory eye exam which is required by the New York commission while he also talks about his most recent knockout win over Jorge Cota and looking forward to the Charlo fight.

“Going for this WBC title, yeah, I’m young, but I feel like I’m the youngest in charge.”

Next we tag along with Lubin as he begins the day’s strength & conditioning routine as he narrates his mindset for this fight and reflects on where he’s come from. Finally we get a glimpse of Lubin during some of his down time, which he admits is fairly boring. He plays videos games for a bit with his camp members before heading back to the gym for a night session. Lubin then finishes by proclaiming that he’s ready to make his name in the sport.

“October 1st I was born, October 14th the whole world will know my name: Erickson ‘Hammer’ Lubin.”
