One of the other big fights on Showtime’s scheduled tripleheader tomorrow will be another junior middleweight title defense — this one between IBF beltholder Jarrett Hurd and Austin Trout.
Hurd (20-0, 14 KOs) will be taking on the stiffest test in his career against Trout (30-3, 17 KOs) who is easily the most accomplished fighter he has faced. The 27-year-old Hurd won the vacant IBF title in his last outing against Tony Harrison this past February. And while Hurd won the fight by 9th round TKO, Harrison had been giving him about all he could handle to that point.
Meanwhile Trout is coming off of a unanimous decision loss to Jermall Charlo in May of last year, so he’s been out of action for quite a while. That could either make Trout a refreshed fighter after a prolonged breather, or simply a rusty one — or perhaps even a little of both. We’ll find out soon enough.
Check out the video above of both fighters going head-to-head during the final press conference for the Showtime card which kicks off at 9pm ET.
