George Groves makes the first defense of his WBA super middleweight title today in London, as he faces Jamie Cox in a World Boxing Super Series quarterfinal matchup at Wembley Arena.
The fight will be televised on ITV Box Office in the United Kingdom, Super Channel in Canada, SAT.1 in Germany, and Audience in the United States, plus streaming live in some countries at WorldBoxingSuperSeries.com.
Groves (26-3, 19 KO) won the WBA title on May 27, beating Fedor Chudinov in Sheffield. Cox (24-0, 13 KO) is a former prospect whose pro career has stalled. He started as a welterweight, and is now campaigning at 168. He’s won two fights this year against journeymen, and is the big underdog in this matchup.
The winner of this fight moves on to the World Boxing Super Series semifinal to face Chris Eubank Jr (26-1, 20 KO), who defeated Avni Yildirim with no problem last Saturday in Germany.
