We all knew it was coming, but now we have confirmation. During their annual convention today, the WBC officially ordered Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez to duke it out once again following their September draw.
Team Golovkin is pursuing a Cinco de Mayo date for the showdown, which conveniently falls on a Saturday next year. There’s not yet word of a location, which might wind up being a sticking point after the screwjob Golovkin faced from the Vegas judges.
No matter where it takes place, though, it will be one of 2018’s most anticipated fights. The two men put on a terrific show the first time out and I can’t wait to see how their strategies evolve.
