Today, live from Cardiff, Anthony Joshua and Carlos Takam took to the scales ahead of tomorrow’s heavyweight title fight. Carlos Takam hit the scale first and weighed in at a solid 235lbs. Joshua was up next and tipped the scales at 254lbs. Both fighters looked physically fit and ready to go.
The most notable part of the weigh-in was Joshua weighing-in heavier than he has at any point in his career. There had been a lot of speculation that Joshua would come into this fight a good deal lighter than he had for his last bout against Wladimir Klitschko, but that obviously didn’t turn out to be the case.
When asked about coming in heavier than usual, Joshua didn’t have any real explanation as to why, but he wasn’t at all concerned about it either. He suggested that he might just being settling into his natural weight but assures that he’s in absolutely tremendous condition.
The two fighters would then face off and lock hands in a firm but respectful grip, looking ahead to tomorrow’s action.
