The 2017 year for Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN will close on December 14, with super bantamweight contender Diego De La Hoya returning to action to face Jose Salgado in the main event from Indio, California.
De La Hoya (20-0, 9 KO) was last seen on September 16, beating Randy Caballero on the Canelo-GGG undercard.
"I'd like to thank Golden Boy Promotions and my manager once again for keeping me busy with this final fight of 2017," said De La Hoya in a press release. "It'll be my fifth fight this year and my team and I feel confident in my progression. I'm looking forward to closing the year off at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino and on ESPN. I anticipate 2018 to be even greater!"
The 23-year-old hopes that a win will get him even closer to a world title shot next year.
Salgado (35-4-2, 28 KO) is a 28-year-old veteran from Mexico who has mainly competed at super flyweight in his career. In his last outing, he lost a 10-round split decision to Javier Gallo, on April 15.
"Since my last fight, I have been hoping for an opportunity like this one," said Salgado. "This fight motivates me. De La Hoya is a great challenge and I hope he is prepared to take me on. On December 14, I am going to give it my all to come out victorious for my fans and family."
The card will also feature the return of Carlos Morales (16-2-3, 6 KO) in a 10-round super featherweight fight against Dardan Zenunaj (14-3, 11 KO), plus fights for Ferdinand Kerobyan, Joet Gonzalez, Joshua Franco, Jonathan Navarro, and Raul Curiel.
