Lomachenko: If Rigondeaux wants to win he must come forward, but he can’t...

Vasyl Lomachenko talks about his upcoming showdown against Guillermo Rigondeaux.

Wil Esco is an assistant editor of Bad Left Hook and has been covering boxing for SB Nation since 2014.

In this video interview captured by FightHub TV, Vasyl Lomachenko talks to media members about his future plans in boxing as well as his big upcoming fight against Guillermo Rigondeaux.

Lomachenko on how many more years he wants to box:

“I cannot answer your question because I don’t know about years, about how many, five, six, seven — I don’t know. But I wanna fight [for as long as I enjoy it]. That’s it. If the day will come when I wake up and I think ‘oh, I don’t wanna go and train, I don’t wanna fight’ I stop this any my gloves I put on the wall.”

How how many weight classes he sees himself going up:

“It depends my body. It depends my muscle. Exactly I know 135 pounds I move up, it’s 100%, but I don’t know when. After this fight, maybe, after two fights — I don’t know — but I move up.”

On if he thinks he and Rigondeaux are the best two fighters in the world:

“He’s the best in his weight category, I’m the best at my weight category.”

On if this fight could determine Fighter of the Year:

“I don’t think it’s gonna be a fight like everybody’s waiting for...You know his style, Rigondeaux. All people who know boxing, all people who love boxing — you know style Rigondeaux and you know how he can use his skill...If he wants to win he needs to come forward, but he can’t, because he train every time in counterpunch. So, it’s a fight — IQ boxer fight.”

On if he thinks they’ll bring the best out of one another:

“Of course. Of course. Me and him go in the ring [and will show the best that we have].”
