Today at 5:45 pm ET on HBO, Dmitry Bivol faces Trent Broadhurst in a special edition of Boxing After Dark. BLH will be here with live, round by round updates and coverage. The fight takes place in Monte Carlo.
Bivol (11-0, 9 KO) is a rising star in the light heavyweight division, and will be defending his WBA “world” title against Broadhurst (20-1, 12 KO), a fringe contender from Australia.
Bivol is 2-0 this year, stopping both Samuel Clarkson and Cedric Agnew in the fourth round. Broadhurst, 29, last fought in February, beating veteran Nader Hamdan via third round TKO.
This is also Bivol’s proper HBO debut, after fighting on the Ward-Kovalev II pay-per-view undercard in June. The 26-year-old is clearly someone the network is interested in focusing on as they try to build the next generation of HBO boxing, and this is the first real step in doing that.

Dmitry Bivol vs Trent Broadhurst
Round 1: Bivol snaps Broadhurst’s head back with a jab, Broadhurst back with a decent right hand. Bivol pushes Broadhurst and referee Howard Foster calls it a knockdown. On a flash, a really bad call by the referee, but the expectation is that it won’t really matter, since this isn’t expected to go the distance or anything. Left hook from Bivol, right hand behind it. Broadhurst sticking his jab out. 1-2 from Bivol. HARD right hand and DOWN GOES BROADHURST at the bell! It’s over! Referee waves it off immediately! Bivol TKO-1
