After announcing the fight a couple of weeks ago, the IBF welterweight title bout between Errol Spence Jr and Lamont Peterson now has an official date and venue.

The Showtime-televised fight will take place on January 20, as announced on the Showtime Championship Boxing broadcast last night, and Dan Rafael reports that it’ll also be at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Spence (22-0, 19 KO) won the belt on May 27 against Kell Brook, knocking his opponent out in the 11th round in a big fight in Brook’s hometown Sheffield, England. It was his only fight this year. He’ll turn 28 the week before his fight with Peterson.

Peterson (35-3-1, 17 KO) also had just one fight this year, a February 18 win over David Avanesyan, which netted him the WBA “regular” welterweight title. Peterson has given that belt up in order to secure this fight. He’ll turn 34 just four days after the fight with Spence.

No undercard fights have been finalized as of now.
