During this media scrum following Daniel Jacobs media workout, the middleweight talks about what point he wants to prove this weekend against Luis Arias as well as some other fights he’s looking forward to. Check out some excerpts from the media interview below:
“...in no particular order I want the best. But, I think it helps to be champion. If those top, top guys who don’t wanna step in right now then I have to go for the next available opponents...”
Jacobs on who he wants next with most of the top middleweights tied-up at the moment:
“Charlo! Charlo! Charlo can get it! I mean, he’s a top contender, right? He considers himself to the best. So if all else fails we going after [Jermall] Charlo.”
On Charlo being aligned with Showtime while he’s on HBO:
“He can come over to HBO. He’s not contractually tied to anyone...but at the end of the day, I want the best. And if I can’t get the best then we’re gonna go down the line but we’re not gonna make a huge leap.”
On if he has any thoughts of moving up to super middleweight:
“That’s later on in my career. Right now I wanna clean out the division, I wanna prove that I am the best, with no doubts in anyone’s mind. And then we’ll move in the future.”
On Luis Arias believing that he’s going to run from him on fight night:
“He’s right! I’m not gonna make it easy for him. ‘Cause that’s essentially what he’s saying. He’s saying that he wants me to stay in the middle of the ring so that he can have a chance to bang. And this whole notion that my chin is weak and that I get knocked out, or that I’m suspect, he wants to be able to take advantage of that so I mean, I get it, but, you know, I’m not gonna make it easy for him. He’s gonna have to work for everything, if he gets it.”
