Promoter Lou DiBella didn’t waste any time in taking up for his fighter, Tevin Farmer, after he was seemingly robbed of a decision win against Kenichi Ogawa. The vacant title fight, which aired on HBO, seemed to have Farmer winning quite comfortably — at least that’s what it looked like to most — but the judges turned in scorecards that favored Ogawa in a real shocker.
DiBella then took to social media to express his frustrations with the sport.
I'm starting to hate this sport. Fucking HATE IT! I had Farmer winning 9 rounds clearly. How could they do this to this kid? Just horrible. I'm TIRED OF WORKING IN A FILTHY BUSINESS! #FarmerOgawa— Lou DiBella (@loudibella) December 10, 2017
Shame on the judges in #FarmerOgawa. There was NO WAY to give the majority of those rounds to Ogawa, despite his great effort against a BETTER boxer. DiBella then singled out judge Burt Clements, who didn’t give his fight any credit after the sixth round, despite Farmer out-landing Ogawa in total punches in 11 of the 12 rounds.
This surely has to be a bitter pill to swallow for Farmer who had finally earned his first shot at a world title — and some big future paydays — but who will now have to go back to the drawing table, so to speak.
