Frank Warren, whom former champion Carl Frampton has teamed up with after leaving Cyclone Promotions, has confirmed that his charge will have his next fight on April 7th in Belfast and tabbed Nonito Donaire as a potential opponent.

Donaire’s Twitter suggests he’s down.

There’s a sense that Donaire (38-4, 24 KO) is well past his best, but he’s 5-1 since his loss to Nicholas Walters and arguably deserved the win against Jessie Magdaleno two Novembers ago. At 35, though, this could very well be his last chance at the big time.

Last deserved chance at the big time, at least.

Frampton (24-1, 14 KO) won a competitive bounce-back fight against Horacio Garcia last month, taking a count in the process. Beating Donaire would be a quality argument that he’s ready for another crack at a world title.
