Finally, some good news.
Swedish super middleweight Erik Skoglund has been woken from his induced coma, which he was placed in following surgery for a brain bleed suffered in training. His promoters, the Sauerlands, have more details.

In short, he’s not quite out of the woods, but he’s getting there.
Boxing has seen a number of tragedies recently, from Nick Blackwell’s double helping of trauma to Daniel Franco’s myriad surgeries to Tim Hague’s death in the ring. It’s far too soon to call this a victory, but it looks like we’re on track for at least a decently happy ending.
And after this dumpster fire of a year, I’ll take it.
