Today WBO junior lightweight titleholder, Vasyl Lomachenko, and WBA junior featherweight beltholder, Guillermo Rigondeaux, held the final press conference before their fight on ESPN this Saturday. And as is customary for all pressers, the two fighters posed for the traditional face-off at the end of the festivities. You can catch the full face off video here, courtesy of Fight Hub TV.
Lomachenko will be putting his world title on the line in this outing as Rigondeaux leaps up two weight classes for what will likely be his career-defining fight at 37 years of age. The Cuban champion is fully aware of what’s at stake here (as he’s also risking his junior featherweight title) but legacy seems to be utmost importance in the match-up.
Rigondeaux was obviously smaller than Lomachenko when standing next to one another, but not dramatically so, and quite frankly I’ve seen bigger size disparities in plenty of fights. That said, many believe that the youth and size advantages Lomachenko has will simply be too much for Rigondeaux to cope with, while Rigondeaux expects his talent to carry the day.
We’ll find out on Saturday night.
