IBF welterweight titleholder Kell Brook will face mandatory challenger Errol Spence Jr this May in England, according to a report at ESPN, with the IBF confirming that the two sides have reached a deal without going to purse bid.
The IBF’s date is May 20, but Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn says it will likely be moved to May 27.
Brook (36-1, 25 KO) will be defending his belt for the first time since a March 2016 win over Kevin Bizier, his last mandatory challenger, though he did make a risky move up in weight in September, a fight that ended with Brook stopped due to an injury to his orbital bone.
Spence (21-0, 18 KO) has been running through his opposition, including wins over former junior welterweight titleholder Chris Algieri and former European welterweight titlist Leonard Bundu in his last two.
Now that this fight is official, who do you like in this one? Will Spence continue his dominance, or will Brook prove to be a step too far?
