Gabe Rosado is proof positive that you don’t always have to have the prettiest record (23-10, 13 KOs) to have some market viability. Rosado, who is 2-5 in his last seven outings (not mentioning another loss which was turned into a no contest), is always in fan-friendly fights — and that must be the reason he’s just been tabbed to headline an April 22 Sky Sports card against Martin Murray (34-4, 16 KOs).
The fight will be held at Liverpool’s Echo Arena, but no word has been released on what weight the fight will take place at.
Rosado, 31, is most recently coming off of a unanimous decision loss to Willie Monroe Jr. last September, in what was essentially perceived to be a middleweight crossroads fight for both men. Rosado didn’t look particularly good in that fight, and it may have marked the end of his run on HBO, but he’s managed to get another good opportunity across the pond on Sky Sports.
Meanwhile, Murray, 34, is coming off a unanimous decision win over Nuhu Lawal in Monaco last November in a super middleweight contest. Prior to that he lost a decision to George Groves last summer.
Both Murray and Rosado appear to be on their last legs as televised fighters anywhere in the world right now, so consider this yet another crossroads opportunity at staying relatively relevant.
