Oleksandr Usyk vs. Michael Hunter completes April 8th tripleheader

Usyk currently trains under Anatoly Lomachenko, father of headliner Vasyl

The April 8th HBO card headlined by Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Jason Sosa has officially become a reunion for the 2012 Ukrainian Olympic team. We previously passed along word of Oleksandr Gvozdyk vs. Yunieski Gonzalez and, earlier today, Top Rank confirmed both that bout and a cruiserweight showdown between Oleksandr Usyk and Michael Hunter.

Usyk (11-0, 10 KO), who won gold in London at heavyweight, has looked practically unstoppable since joining the pros, demonstrating speed and fluidity that his bulky frame belie. He dominated a legitimate world-class competitor in Krzysztof Glowacki last September for the WBO title and knocked out Thabiso Mchunu in his first defense.

Hunter (12-0, 8 KO) was a London competitor as well and has the almighty 0, but he’s at best a step sideways from Mchunu. His biggest win to date came last May against Isiah Thomas, whom you may remember from the time Murat Gassiev blasted him into next week after the bell.

Still, it’s always fun to watch Usyk in action. Damn good card overall.
