Are Deontay Wilder and Dominic Breazeale headed for a fight later this year after a hotel lobby brawl?

WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and Dominic Breazeale, both of whom won on Saturday night’s PBC on FOX card, were involved in a large scale hotel lobby fight, according to TMZ, who have cell phone video of the scrap, not that there’s really a lot to see.

Breazeale addressed the incident on social media:

Wilder, meanwhile, has made no tweets about it, so start drawing up theories about that, I guess.

Wilder (38-0, 37 KO) stopped a game Gerald Washington in the fifth round of the Saturday night main event in Birmingham, Alabama, while Breazeale (18-1, 16 KO) got off the canvas to knock out Izu Ugonoh, also in the fifth round.

All of this could potentially be a way to set up a Wilder-Breazeale fight, of course. Boxing can be a lot more sports-entertainment than the sport part often wants to let on, as we all should know very well by now. But we’ll see. Breazeale previously challenged for the IBF heavyweight title in 2016, losing big to Anthony Joshua, but he was seen on national TV for this fight in a very exciting performance, and could be an attractive next foe for Wilder and the PBC brand, which would keep things in-house.
