With the show going on right now and the main event expected sometime around 7 am ET, we’ll be doing our very best to be here this morning for live coverage of the long-anticipated, long-overdue rematch between Anthony Mundine and Danny Green.
Mundine (47-7, 27 KO) beat Green (35-5, 28 KO) way back in 2006 at Aussie Stadium in Sydney. Today, they meet at the Adelaide Oval in North Adelaide. The first fight was huge, with both men in their primes. Today’s, well, not as much, honestly, with Mundine at 41 and Green at 43, both well past their best days, but there’s a legitimate grudge here. These two flat out do not like one another.
Mundine hasn’t fought since 2015, when he was decimated by Charles Hatley and stopped in the 11th round, and is 3-3 in his last six, dating back to 2013. For this fight’s catchweight of 183 pounds, Mundine is fighting about 30 pounds over his usual recent weight. Green fought last August, beating Kane Watts, but he’s fought just twice since 2012.
