Tonight at 10 pm ET on Showtime, ShoBox: The New Generation returns with a quadrupleheader featuring two-time Olympic gold medalist Claressa Shields (1-0, 0 KO) in the main event from Detroit.
Shields, 21, will face Szilvia Szabados (15-8, 6 KO) of Hungary in a fight set for six rounds. It’s a big opportunity for Shields to headline a professional card at all, let alone one on national television and under the ShoBox banner. The middleweight from Flint, Mich., is hoping to fast track to a world title, and she has to keep winning to achieve that goal.
Also on the card:
- Bantamweights Antonio Nieves (17-0-2, 9 KO) of Cleveland and Nikolay Potapov (16-0-1, 8 KO) of Brooklyn by way of Russia meet in a 10-round fight for a minor WBO title.
- Welterweights Wesley Tucker (13-0, 8 KO) of Toledo and Edward Williams (12-1-1, 4 KO) of Detroit square off in an eight-round contest.
- Bantamweights James Gordon Smith (11-0, 6 KO) of Detroit and Joshua Greer Jr (11-1-1, 4 KO) of Chicago meet in another eight-round fight.
