Tonight at 9 pm ET on FS1, Premier Boxing Champions returns with a show from Fitzgerald’s Casino & Hotel in beautiful Tunica, Mississippi, headlined by the return of “The Technician,” Sergiy Derevyanchenko.
Derevyanchenko (9-0, 7 KO) is one of the top middleweight prospects in the sport today, a 31-year-old polished product with a great amateur background and, thus far, a dominant run as a pro. In his last outing, he finished off former titleholder Sam Soliman inside of two rounds.
Tonight, he faces Kemahl Russell (10-0, 8 KO), an unbeaten 27-year-old fighter nicknamed “The Hitman.” Russell has fought nine of his 10 pro fights in Jamaica, Guyana, or Mexico, with his last bout in October 2016 coming in Macon, Georgia. This is a major step up in competition for him, but he’s also pretty much a complete unknown, so there could be some surprises in store.
Also on the show: Junior welterweight Jamontay Clark (10-0, 6 KO) takes on Japan’s Gaku Takahashi (15-6-1, 7 KO) in an eight-round fight, and Egyptian light heavyweight Ahmed Elbiali (14-0, 11 KO) faces Brazilian veteran Jackson Junior (20-8, 18 KO) in another eight-rounder.
