Daniel Jacobs skips IBF second-day weigh-ins

Golovkin weighed in a 169.6 earlier today.

Jacobs says GGG never fought someone like him

Daniel Jacobs stands to win a healthy crop of titles if he manages to upset Gennady Golovkin tonight, but the latter’s IBF belt is no longer among them. Jacobs skipped the sanctioning body’s second-day weigh-ins, leaving him ineligible to win that title.

The IBF mandates that title fight participants weigh in no more than ten pounds over the contracted weight on fight day. Golovkin hit the scales at 169.6 pounds this morning.

His WBA “Super”, WBC, and IBO belts are still on the line.

Honestly, this is probably the right decision on Jacobs’ part. One belt out of several isn’t worth even the slightest handicap against the likes of “GGG” and I highly doubt any but the most asinine of pundits would consider the win “tainted” if he manages to shock the world.
