Lawrence Okolie wins pro debut in twenty seconds

Okolie went 1-1 in Rio

British Olympian Lawrence Okolie fell short in Rio, but made quite an impression in his professional debut, obliterating Geoffrey Cave in just twenty seconds. Cave entered the fight 0-2, but the win is still remarkable for its sheer brutality. This is about as gnarly as they come.

The Sky Sports link has a high-definition version of the hit if the video above isn’t up to your standards.

Okolie, a 6’5” cruiserweight fighting out of Hackney, London, enjoyed a solid amateur career that saw him defeat American hopeful Cam F. Awesome and qualify for the most recent Olympics. After defeating Igor Jakubowski, he ran into Erislandy Savon, who had smashed him to bits in the World Series of Boxing, and dropped a decision.

He’s set to return to action next month on the undercard of Ricky Burns vs. Julius Indongo in Glasgow. He looks like he’s got real power, at the very least, and it’ll be fun to watch his development in one of boxing’s scariest divisions.
