David Haye in talks to face UFC star Jimi Manuwa

Sure, why not.

According to ESPN, former heavyweight beltholder David Haye is apparently considering the possibility of facing cage fighter Jimi Manuwa on the undercard of a prospective Mayweather-McGregor bout. Truthfully, I suppose if a fight like that belongs anywhere, that’s exactly where it should be.

UFC’s Manuwa called out Haye for a clash immediately following his first round knockout of Cory Anderson, saying in front of London’s O2 Arena:

"David Haye, let's do this. We're two of the hardest hitters in London. I think that the fight makes sense.

"Conor wants to fight Mayweather, why not have me against David Haye on the same card?"

Haye, who is currently recovering from a torn achilles suffered in a loss to Tony Bellew, reportedly answered by saying:

"Yeah we have heard from Manuwa's management and UFC so it is something that we are looking at at the moment. Obviously it is a little way off being confirmed. But it is a fight that would unify a lot of the fans from both UFC and boxing and make a mega event."

I really don’t think much about these cross-code fights, but hey, if we’re going to hold a Mayweather-McGregor circus then we might as well do it big, up and down the card. Therefore I would like to nominate Clarissa Shields taking on Ronda Rousey in the opener. It just seems appropriate.

Who else should be fighting on the card?
