The big boys take center stage this afternoon as veteran Marco Huck battles Latvian puncher Mairis Briedis for the WBC Cruiserweight Championship. The two headline a BoxNation stream from Dortmund that’s scheduled to kick off at 8:00 PM BST (3:00 PM ET).
Huck (40-3-1, 27 KO) has won two straight since Krzysztof Glowacki ended his run as WBO champion in 2015, stopping rival Ola Afolabi for the IBO title and defending it with a decision over Dmytro Kucher last November. Briedis (21-0, 18 KO), meanwhile, smashed Olanrewaju Durodola last May to become Tony Bellew’s mandatory challenger and followed it up with a quick drubbing of Simon Vallily.
The other fight of note pits WBO and WBC women’s middleweight champion Christina Hammer (20-0, 9 KO) against Sweden’s Maria Lindberg (15-1-2, 8 KO).
We’ll have round-by-round coverage of the main event, plus quick recaps of whatever BoxNation elects to show us beforehand.
