Yuriorkis Gamboa (26-1, 17 KOs) has just been scheduled for his next outing where he’ll take on Robinson Castellanos (23-12, 13 KOs) on May 5th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, reports ESPN. The lightweight bout is scheduled for 10 rounds and will headline the main event of a Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN card.
Gamboa, 35, despite his immense talent is probably even more well known for his inactivity, going through a number of promotional issues over the years. In fact, being that Gamboa just fought a month ago, the thought of him fighting again in just a few weeks from now is almost incomprehensible — but perhaps things are finally back on track.
The main Golden Boy on ESPN card will air live on both ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes starting at 8pm EST, with additional undercard fights airing live on ESPN Deportes and streaming live on ESPN3 starting at 7pm EST.
Gamboa is most recently coming of an umimpressive decision win over Rene Alvarado in March while his opponent, Castellanos, will be ending a 14-month layoff, last getting knocked out by Oscar Escandon in March 2016.
