I’ll give Golden Boy credit, this is definitely not something I expected to be writing about when I woke up this morning. The promotional firm just released the official commercial for Canelo Alvarez vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., and it begins pretty much like any other cheesy fight ad you might see, except that it quickly shifts to a scene depicting a footrace between Canelo and Chavez Jr, headed right towards the infamous Donald Trump border wall.
What happens next can only be described as an overt act of war, with both Canelo and Chavez Jr. completely obliterating the vital national security infrastructure as the pair invade Las Vegas — which just so happens to be where they’ll be fighting on May 6.
Now I always like to process these things in sequential order. Firstly, I don’t take kindly to threats. Don’t you dare invade this country when a simple knock and special exception visa will do. Secondly, I didn’t know Golden Boy was a socially conscience organization — but duly noted. And lastly, is there actually a decent chance that this turns out to be a competitive fight, or have I stared too long into the abyss?
Let me know in the comments below.
