Today at 2:30 pm EDT on AWE (US) and Sky Sports 2 (UK) from Glasgow, Ricky Burns and Julius Indongo will meet in a junior welterweight unification bout, headlining a card from The SSE Hydro.
Burns (41-5-1, 14 KO) will have home field advantage, and has sort of resurrected his career in recent outings, following a stretch where he went 1-3-1 in 2013-15. Now, he’s won four in a row and holds the WBA “world” title at 140 pounds, which will be on the line today.
Also on the line will be the IBF belt held by Indongo (21-0, 11 KO), a Namibian fighter who is coming off of a stunning 40-second knockout of Eduard Troyanovsky to win his belt.
A pair of British titles will also be on the line today. Scotty Cardle (21-0-1, 7 KO) will defend the British lightweight belt against Robbie Bartlett (14-2-1, 1 KO), and the vacant super flyweight title will be on the line between Charlie Edwards (9-1, 4 KO) and Iain Butcher (16-2, 5 KO).
