Showtime has picked up the June 3 rematch between WBC light heavyweight titleholder Adonis “Superman” Stevenson and challenger Andrzej Fonfara. The fight will take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, the same venue where they met in 2014.
Stevenson (28-1, 23 KO) has won 15 straight fights, and has made seven successful defenses of his WBC title, which he won from Chad Dawson in 2013. His opposition has been routinely criticized, but he’s done the jobs in front of him each time out.
Fonfara (29-4, 17 KO) gave Stevenson perhaps his toughest challenge as champion, though. He was an unheralded challenger when that fight was made, but fought a tough 12 rounds against Stevenson, and made his name in defeat. He went on to defeat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and Nathan Cleverly in 2015, before a loss last year to Joe Smith Jr. He last fought in March, stopping Dawson in the 10th and final round.
