PBC isn’t dead, it just went home.
Benavidez (17-0, 16 KO) has emerged as one of the division’s top prospects at the age of just 20, knocking out nine straight. Medina (37-7, 31 KO) represents his stiffest test to date, having given James DeGale an unexpectedly tough out last April.
The winner will become the mandatory challenger for the winner of Andre Dirrell vs. Callum Smith.
The co-feature promises significantly less intrigue. Lara (28-0-2, 20 KO), who fought Jesus Rojas to a gritty technical draw in 2015, knocked out Fernando Montiel in 97 seconds on the undercard of Victor Ortiz vs. Andre Berto II. He’s the clear A-side against Briones (28-5-2, 21 KO), whose career highlight is giving Miguel Flores a decent fight two Januarys ago.
Pretty darn good PBC card overall. Early picks?
