WBO middleweight titlist Billy Joe Saunders appears to be ramping up his efforts to get a summer title unification with Gennady Golovkin signed and sealed. Last week Saunders’ promoter Frank Warren issued a statement saying Golovkin had 10 days to sign a contract for the Saunders fight, and now Saunders seems to be taking things a step further to goad Golovkin into doing so.
Just today Saunders posted a picture of himself wearing a shirt calling Golovkin a “p***y Borat” while having a laugh at Golovkins expense...

This may spur Golovkin into settling the fight sooner than later, but at what cost? The last person I recall doing something like this was Curtis Stevens who posted a picture of a casket with Golovkin’s moniker written across it. Golovkin didn’t take too kindly to that excessive taunt and when he got the chance to physically express his disapproval at Stevens’ expense, it led to one of the most memorable reactions in recent years.

In the meanwhile Saunders and his team insist that they are fully amenable to Golovkin’s terms for the fight which has been rumored to be slated for June 10 in Golovkin’s native Kazakhstan.
