Chris Algieri breaks down Brook-Spence fight

Algieri wonders what physical condition Kell Brook will be in following his taxing loss to Gennady Golovkin.

Former welterweight title contender Chris Algieri has had some up-close-and-personal experience with Errol Spence Jr., getting knocked out in five rounds with the young challenger last year. And now in an interview with FightHub, Algieri gives his take on how he thinks a Kell Brook-Errol Spence Jr. fight will play out and how highly he rates Spence as a fighter...

On how he views the upcoming Brook-Spence fight:

"I think it's a great match-up, I think the timing of it is really good. Kell Brook obviously has the experience advantage but I think that Spence's length and reach could be a real issue. That's a curious fight, it really is. And also, what did Kell leave in that Triple G fight? Is he coming out the same guy? I don't know. You really won't tell until fight night."

Considering his own experience with Spence, and some rating him as possibly the best welterweight, does he think Spence belongs to be mentioned alongside Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia, etc.

"Hey man, I sure hope so. Obviously things didn't go well for me...I think he's definitely a super-talented guy. I honestly underestimated him, I didn't see all that, that he actually turned out to be. Maybe that was my own ignorance but the kid can definitely fight. He's also a big welterweight...so I think that could also play a role in the Kell Brook fight.

"Kell's a shorter guy...He's stocky but he's shorter, and range is a big part of the sport. [Spence] has long arms. Wide shoulders, long arms."
