Badou Jack, coming off a disputed draw with super middleweight James DeGale in January, immediately made it known that he would be moving up to light heavyweight in his next outing — and it appears that Nathan Cleverly is being targeted as his opponent.
Jack reached out to Cleverly on social media just yesterday to ask about where things stand in their negotiations:
@NathanClev where we at?

Promoter Eddie Hearn and his fighter Cleverly would promptly respond, indicating that their intention is in fact to put this fight together.
@BadouJack @NathanClev We never heard back!

I've told my team, this is the fight I want! Waiting on you guys .... https://t.co/rQLT3ZRWVy

Nathan Cleverly (30-3, 16 KOs) currently holds the WBA ‘regular’ title at light heavyweight which obviously makes him a target for anyone trying to get in line for the full world title. The Welshman is most recently coming off of a stoppage win over Juergen Braehmer last October after dropping a decision to Andrzej Fonfara in late 2015.
Meanwhile Badou Jack (20-1-3, 12 KOs) hasn’t had the best run of luck for himself lately. Aside from his debatable majority draw with James DeGale, he also wound up with another majority draw in his previous outing against Lucian Bute last year — another highly controversial decision. Perhaps Jack will run into better fortune at 175lbs.
