British heavyweight Dillian Whyte won’t go through with his scheduled June 3rd fight against Mariusz Wach at London’s O2 arena, reports WBN. Whyte is reportedly suffering from a foot injury which forced his withdrawal from the fight and Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn broke the news which follows Whyte’s big win over Dereck Chisora last December.
“Dillian is on the verge of a World title shot and we can't afford to enter a fight at this stage not being 100 per cent,” said promoter Eddie Hearn.
“We expect to see him return in July before challenging for the World Heavyweight title towards the end of the year.”
At this time there doesn’t appear to be any plan for the Whyte-Wach fight to be rescheduled, with Whyte likely to return in July against another opponent altogether. Fans who may have purchased tickets to the Whyte-Wach fighter are encouraged to return to their point of purchase for a refund.
