We’re good to go! Both Kell Brook and Errol Spence hit the scales in Sheffield today for the official weigh-in before tomorrow night’s IBF title fight. And even more importantly, both fighters looked to be in good condition on the scales so fans should be able to expect the best out of both men.
There’s been a lot of talk leading up to this fight about whether Kell Brook, after beefing up to middleweight, would be able to get back down to a welterweight limit that he’s long struggled to make. It turns out that wasn’t much of an issue as his strict diet and training regimen has paid off. Brook officially tipped the scales at a ripped 146.7lbs.
Challenger Errol Spence Jr. is another big welterweight who has also mentioned his difficulty making 147 in the lead up to this fight. But he too would make the limit, hitting the scales at solid 146.5lbs.
Per IBF rules, neither fighter will be able to gain more than 10lbs by tomorrow morning’s second-day weigh-in, however at that they can put on as much as they want before the opening bell rings.
Brook looked pumped in front of his hometown fans, and Spence looked dialed-in for his first opportunity at a world title. I’m ready for fireworks!
