It’s no secret that there’s no love lost between Sergey Kovalev and Andre Ward. But as the two prepare to meet in a rematch on June 17, Kovalev is getting increasingly antsy to win back the title belts he believes he unfairly lost last November, as captured by RingTV.

“I don’t like this guy and I want to punish him because he puts his nose really up right now. He knows that he lost,” Kovalev said Wednesday at a media workout in Oxnard, California. “I don’t care if he shows respect to me or not. I know only one thing: I will kick his ass!”

After continuing by saying that he wants to destroy Ward, the “fake champion”, Kovalev mentions that he believes it’s wrong how Ward has been justifying his close win while trying to convince people that it was the right decision.

But Kovalev says it’s not the first time that he’ll be going into a fight angry — he says he always fights angry — but that he’s happy other than that and the fact that he no longer has his world titles only adds extra motivation for him to do a number on Ward in the sequel.

” … I am happy what’s happening around me — I mean in training camp, my family, my life and my boxing. That I have no belts is for me new motivation to kick more ass, because he does not deserve these belts. This is gift for him from the judges for Christmas and Christmas already finished and belts should be back with me.”

Ward and Kovalev will square-off again in just a couple of weeks, with the IBF, WBA, and WBO light heavyweight titles all on the line.
