The World Boxing Super Series has four spots left in its cruiserweight tournament and no shortage of contenders lining up to fill them. Power-punchers Ilunga Makabu and Youri Kalenga have recently expressed their desire to sign on ahead of the planned July 8th draw.
The two recently bounced back from knockout losses with wins over designated victims. Makabu (20-2, 19 KO) fell to Tony Bellew in May of 2016, losing out on the WBC cruiserweight title, while Kalenga (23-3, 16 KO) lost a war with Yunier Dorticos nine days prior in a bid for the interim WBA belt.
Both men are just 29 and always must-watch television. If they can add these two and someone like Dmitry Kudryashov to the current lineup of Krzysztof Wlodarczyk. Mairis Briedis, Murat Gassiev, and Yunier Dorticos, that would be an insane accomplishment.
Now they just need to get the super middleweights sorted out. George Groves is but one poorly-tattooed man.
UPDATE: Kudryashov and Krzysztof Glowacki are reportedly officially in, with Oleksandr Usyk on tap to join as well.
