Following the news that the WBO’s review into the scoring of Pacquiao-Horn confirmed a Jeff Horn win, Manny Pacquiao says he’s not surprised by the results. That’s not to say he doesn’t think he won the fight, though. It sounds more like he just expects some form of bureaucratic incompetence.
The WBO recently assigned a panel of five anonymous international judges to re-score the bout, which ultimately resulted in three of the five judges coming back with a Horn win (one scored it for Pacquiao, and the other a draw).
"We have seen worse judgements in the past where judges manipulated results. Nothing surprises me now," Pacquiao said in a statement late on Tuesday.
"Let the people judge for themselves. People saw what happened."
Pacquiao’s unexpected loss has prompted calls for his retirement — like a permanent retirement — although the fighter himself says he has to give serious thought about what he wants to do going forward.
