Tonight at 9:50 pm ET on HBO, Boxing After Dark is back with a big tripleheader from The Forum in Inglewood, California, featuring two world title fights at 130 pounds, and a meaningful showdown at 175.
In the main event, Miguel Berchelt (31-1, 28 KO) defends the WBC super featherweight title against former titleholder Takashi Miura (31-3-2, 24 KO). The course for this fight was set on January 28, when Miura won an eliminator against Mickey Roman, and on the same card, Berchelt won the title from Francisco Vargas.
Jezreel Corrales (21-1, 8 KO) will defend the WBA super featherweight title against tough veteran Robinson Castellanos (24-12, 14 KO), as well. It’s Corrales’ first fight under the Golden Boy banner, and his first on U.S. soil. Castellanos is coming off of a win over Yuriorkis Gamboa.
In the opener, light heavyweight contenders Joe Smith Jr (23-1, 19 KO) and Sullivan Barrera (19-1, 14 KO) are set for action. Smith beat Bernard Hopkins and Andrzej Fonfara last year, while Barrera suffered a loss to Andre Ward, and came back to knock off prized prospect Vyacheslav Shabranskyy in his next outing.
Patrick L. Stumberg will be handling the round by round call tonight. Join us!
